What Is the HOD Scanner?

The High of Day (HOD) Scanner shows stocks hitting new intraday highs. It operates in real-time throughout the trading day, as well as in pre- and post-market. It can be used to identify breakouts and upward trending stocks.

The HOD Scanner is available as a module within a Grid Layout or Floating Layout. You can also open the scanner by selecting All Tools > HOD Scanner.

HOD Scanner Components

1. Time – The time of the intraday high
2. Ticker – The ticker hitting a new intraday high
3. Price – The ticker’s price at the new high
4. # – The number of hits on that ticker (i.e. the number of times it has hit an intraday high in the past 15 seconds)
5. Top Hits Summary – The five tickers with the greatest number of new intraday highs in the past 15 seconds

HOD Scanner Settings

Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the HOD Scanner window to access settings.

Available settings include:

• Minimum Price – The minimum share price stocks must have to appear in the HOD Scanner
• Maximum Price – The maximum share price price stocks can have to appear in the HOD Scanner
• Minimum Volume – The minimum daily volume required for stocks to appear in the HOD Scanner
• Minimum Alerts – The minimum number of hits a stock must hit before it will appear in the HOD Scanner
• Alert Once Per Second – Enable to limit scanner updates to once per second instead of per tick
• Flash Alert Threshold – Stocks with more than this threshold number of hits flash green to provide a visual alert and trigger audio alerts
• Zoom – Zoom the HOD Scanner display in or out to accommodate different window sizes

Click Apply to update your settings.

Audio alerts can be enabled when using the HOD Scanner in a Floating Layout. Clicking the volume button in the upper right-hand corner of the window. Alerts are triggered when a ticker hits your Flash Alert Threshold and include the symbol, number of hits, and latest price. 

Pause the scanner at any time by clicking in the scanner window. Click again to unpause.

Tip: Link modules within Grid and Floating layouts by assigning them the same color dot in the upper right-hand corner of each window. When you click on a ticker within the HOD Scanner, that ticker will automatically be displayed in all linked modules within the same layout (e.g. charts and news modules).
